My job title is “Entertainment Video Producer” at Tribune Interactive. Basically I produce online packages featuring stars from Fox, The CW,   ABC, CBS and NBC. Mostly Fox and The CW. I’ve been doing this for three years.

There’s so much going on while preparing, shooting and editing these pieces that I thought it’d be cool to start sharing these experiences with you all.

From having to wait on set for hours before the actor finishes a scene and comes talk to us, to witnessing the madness of a red carpet. It’s all in a day’s work. And yes, part of my job is to watch TV, HOURS of TV! Because you can’t stand there in front of a producer or lead actor and be like, “So what’s your show about?” It’s also fun to interview an actor you may or may not have a crush on, or a legend who turns out to be a bit out of it, or the person you wish could be your boss one day (I’m a writer in my free time, by the way). So yeah, there’s a lot of stories and I’ll start sharing them here or via twitter so I have something to do next time I’m waiting for some star on his set.

A few other details I should mention are…

  • I was born Texan, raised Mexican, received my post-grad education in the Capital of the United States, lived in the city that many refer to as the “Latin Hollywood” (Miami) and have been living in LA since I got this job.
  • No one can ever place my accent so most actors are the first to ask a question during our interviews: “Where are you from?” I see my accent as an ice-breaker now and as a way for them to remember me. In fact, Jane Lynch just told me she remembered me because of my accent.
  • You will never see me and will hardly ever hear me on the videos. My company is going for a no interviewer on the shot style.
  • Yes, I did mention I’m a writer. Many of my questions, to producers and writers especially, are asked from that point of view.
